Savills IM strengthens European industrial team with co-head appointments

International real estate investment manager Savills Investment Management has appointed Daniel Hohenthanner and Evert Castelein as co-heads for Savills IM’s European Industrial & Logistics business.

In their newly created roles, they will oversee all of Savills IM’s European Industrial and Logistics strategies, totalling €6 bn in assets under management, and support the platform’s growth. This will include focusing on Savills IM’s new pooled European urban logistics and industrial strategy, which aims to deliver attractive, long-term total returns by exploiting rental growth pressure in undersupplied urban markets, as well as on other logistics strategies, including value add and opportunistic strategies.

Both Castelein and Hohenthanner have a wealth of experience in logistics and industrial real estate. Castelein, who joined the firm as a senior fund manager in January this year, has over 20 years of experience, including managing a listed European logistics fund with over €700 mln in assets.

Hohenthanner joined Savills IM in September 2011 and has been director of investment and fund manager for various European logistics strategies. Under his stewardship, €1.2 bn of equity has been raised for the European flagship funds ELF 2 and 3, with over €1.8 bn of capital deployed. In total, he has more than 28 years of experience in real estate.

Castelein will continue to be based in Amsterdam and Hohenthanner in Munich. Both will work closely with Kiran Patel, Global CIO and Deputy CEO. The close co-operation with Jon Crossfield, head of Strategic Partnerships & Living and Gerhard Lehner, managing director & head of fund management Germany, remains unchanged.
