Grupo Ageas Portugal spends €30m on new Porto HQ

Grupo Ageas Portugal has opened a new HQ in Porto in which the Portuguese insurance group invested €30 mln.

Created from scratch, the Icon Douro building comprises 7,600 m2 over five storeys and features flexible workspaces, allowing employees to work in a collaborative way.

Steven Braekeveldt, CEO of Ageas Portugal Group, said: ‘These new modern forms of organisation are fundamental for the company's growth, revealing a bet on our employees and on the development of work fully based on the principles of collaboration, flexibility and sustainability. The building mirrors our values - Care, Dare, Share and Deliver - and promotes both creativity and innovation, but also inclusion.’

Besides the Icon Douro building, the Icon Boavista development includes two more buildings, one for offices and one for rental apartments, in addition to a garden, plazas, support services, and public spaces.

The restaurant area, which includes a cafeteria, restaurant, self-service area and terrace, will be operated by SAOM, a charitable institution specialising in social inclusion in the food sector.

The opening of the Porto HQ follows the opening of the Lisbon HQ earlier this year, with Grupo Ageas Portugal investing nearly €100 mln for both buildings that, bring together, for the first time, all employees in a single building in each of the cities.
