Expo Real sees attendance approach pre-pandemic levels

Expo Real recorded almost 40,000 visitors for its 2022 edition, ‘almost reaching pre-pandemic levels’, the organisers of the Munich trade show announced on Thursday.

The attendance figure compares with 46,747 visitors in 2019, the last year a fully fledged, in-person event was held before the outbreak of the Covid pandemic in 2020. A much smaller, hybrid event took place in 2021 which attracted 19,200 visitors.

Exhibitor numbers totalled 1,887 this year, against 2,189 in 2019.

The organisers said this year's strong attendance reflected a clear need to exchange ideas and thoughts. ‘In a time of major upheaval, Expo Real reaffirms how valuable it is as a platform for exchange and information for the real estate industry,’ said Stefan Rummel, managing director of Messe München.

He added: ‘Seven halls, 1,887 exhibitors and almost 40.000 attendees - the show has almost reached 2019 levels of participation.’

After Germany, the top 10 visitor countries were: Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, US and Spain.

The 1,887 exhibitors came from 33 countries. After Germany, the top 10 exhibitor countries were: Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, France, Portugal, the US and Czech Republic with equal shares, and Romania.
