Unibail-Rodamco gets green light for Triangle in Paris
Date: 6 April 2011
Category: Development
Unibail-Rodamco has been given the green light to go ahead with the development of a 180-metre high Triangle-shaped office tower in Paris. The construction costs for the 'Triangle' project are estimated at around EUR 500 mln.

The municipality of Paris recently backed the plan by Europe's largest listed property company to build the distinctively shaped tower to provide 84,000-m2 of offices, conference and street-level shops. It will be located next to Porte de Versailles in the Parc des Expositions, in the southwest of the French capital. The Triangle will be the first skyscraper developed within de Périférique (motorway ring) since Tour Montparnasse in 1980.

For many years development of real estate higher than 37-metres was not permitted in the centre of the city. The restrictions were eased for some locations on the edge of the centre since 2008. In the north and east projects of around 180 metres are proceeding.

The Triangle has been designed by Swiss architects Herzog & De Meuron, known for the 'Bird's Nest' Olympic stadium in Beijing and the Tate Modern gallery in London.

Unibail-Rodamco has two other major office projects in the Paris region. In La Defense, which is outside the ring, the real estate giant is developing the 300-metre high Phare Tower (125,000 m2) and the 195-metre high Majunga (63,000 m2).
