ULI conference to examine future of opportunity funds
Date: 26 January 2010
Category: Conference
The future of the opportunity fund sector is to be put under the microscope at the ULI Europe annual conference in Paris next week. Aref Lahham, founding partner of pan-European opportunity fund manager Orion Capital Managers and Marc Mogull, managing partner of Benson Elliot Capital Management, will be among the industry experts taking part in a panel discussion entitled 'Opportunity Funds - The Moment of Truth'.

The other participants are Mike Hoffman, president of Probitas Partners, Dan Cummings, managing director of Harvard Management Corporation and Joanne Douvas, a principal at Clerestory Capital. Cummings was previously managing director of Carlyle Real Estate and Co-CEO of LaSalle Investment Management. Douvas has been described by the publication Private Equity real Estate as one of the 30 most influential people in the private equity real estate sector.

Among the issues discussed during the panel session will be how opportunity funds have performed, the changing relationship between fund managers and investors and the challenges to, and sustainability of, the opportunity fund model.

Mogull, who is also vice-chairman of ULI's UK council, says participants in the interactive session will 'be a part of shaping the future of the private equity real estate industry'.
