Sonae Sierra presents checklist for successful malls
Date: 28 September 2011
Category: Research
Around half of all shopping centres in Germany need to be modernised and reworked. But developers and investors waiting in the wings to cash in on the multi-billion euro opportunity are faced with a puzzling question: why are some shopping centres successful, while others are not?

To help address this thorny issue, Lisbon-based shopping centre company Sonae Sierra has teamed up German consultancy GMA on a new study. A key element of the study is a 'centre success-check', which the pair say can be used to evaluate shopping centres in terms of their marketability and revitalisation potential. Sonae Sierra and GMA are presenting their study and checklist at a press event during Expo Real on Tuesday 4 October.

The October edition of PropertyEU features an interview with Sonae Sierra and Dutch developer MAB about their joint venture to transform a former Karstadt store in the Germany city of Solingen into a modern shopping centre.
