Redevco revamps 7,000m2 retail site in Gouda
Date: 19 July 2011
Category: Retail
European real estate group Redevco is to redevelop a 7,000-m2 retail at Kleiweg 24-48 in the central Dutch city of Gouda. Construction work is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2012, with delivery set for the autumn of that year.

The current tenants C&A, WE, Blokker and V&D will remain on Kleiweg. Fashion retailer The Sting will be opening a new store in the complex.

The project comprises 7,000 m2 of retail space, some of which is already owned by Redevco. The redevelopment will include absorbing a pedestrian route which no longer functions satisfactorily. The facades on Kleiweg will be completely renovated.

The units leased to C&A, WE, Blokker and V&D will be enlarged, while the new store for The Sting will be a major magnet in Gouda's key retail centre.

The Dutch Shopping Centre Council has designated the project a 'sustainable building' pilot. The project will be certified according to BREEAM-NL standards, the aim being to secure a BREAAM 'Very Good' certificate. The architect is Soeters van Eldonk Architects of Amsterdam.

The Council is organising a masterclass on this project on Thursday 24 November 2011.

Redevco is an independent international real estate company, managing and developing one of the largest retail portfolios in Europe, currently valued at EUR 7.4 bn. The portfolio comprises over 750 properties in 18 countries.
