Multi Development and Corio announced completion on Tuesday of a city centre regeneration project in the Dutch town of Spijkenisse after 10 years of construction work.

The development involved the construction of a new City Square (Stadsplein), the reopening of shopping mall De Kopspijker and the creation of a new theater in the center of Spijkenisse. Developed by Multi, the Stadsplein forms a new entrance to the city and comprises 12,500 m2 of shops, a Supercoop supermarket, restaurants, 154 apartments, a plaza and two new parking garages with 1,100 parking spaces.

The Kopspijker shopping mall - owned and developed by Corio - offers 28 shops over 5,500 m2.

The municipality of Spijkenisse is responsible for the new public space, including the new Theater Square which is under construction. The theater will have two halls totalling 850 seats.
