Metro AM appoints Western European manager

Metro Group Asset Management has announced the appointment of Jean-Christophe Bretxa to the position of Regional Manager West Europe. Bretxa, who will take on this position on July 1, 2011, joins from Redevco, the private retail property company, where he has been managing director in charge of the property business in France and Switzerland. In his new
position, he will have responsibility for running the operating property business of MAM for the countries Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain and will report to CEO Thomas Ziegler, who has so far also been responsible for West Europe.

In 2010, Metro Group Asset Management introduced a new structure with seven regions with the aim of aligning the property management activities more closely to the operating business needs of the sales divisions in the individual countries.

Jean-Christophe Bretxa started his career in commerce in 1988 as Director Property Services at the French retailer Printemps, with responsibility for developing retail properties in France, Portugal, Turkey, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. From 1995 to 1997, he worked for the French supermarket chain Continent (Promodes), where he was in charge of the planning and development of retail properties in France and Turkey.

In 1997, Bretxa moved to Carrefour, where he held various senior management posts in the international property business, finally reaching the position of Global Head of Real Estate. In 2005, Bretxa took on the function of Head of Third Party Fund Management at Axa Reim, with overall responsibility for 12 real estate funds.

Metro Group Asset Management is the real estate company of the group and is responsible for optimizing the property assets.
