Date: 6 September 2011
Category: Hotels
Property adviser Christie + Co has said that that 19 out of 28 of Von Essen Hotels in the UK are now under offer following two rounds of a bidding process.

The Von Essen hotel group entered administration in earlier this year and Christie + Co received the mandate to sell the hotel portfolio. UK newspaper The Times said recently that the process has resulted in offers totalling EUR 171 mln so far. Christie + Co has not commented on the level of the bids.

The offers for the hotels are being progressed on a sub-group or individual basis with a variety of buyers including both experienced operators and high-net-worth-individuals.

The hotels on which offers are still invited include Sharrow Bay, Cumbria (guide price: £5 mln); Thornbury Castle, South Gloucestershire (£5 mln); Dalhousie Castle, Edinburgh (£5 mln) and Homewood Park, Bath (£3.5 mln)

Christie + Co is also inviting offers for the freehold interest in the Chateau de Bagnols in France (£6m).

Chris Day, managing director of Christie + Co said: 'As we anticipated, the portfolio attracted a great deal of interest nationally and internationally from a variety of operators and investors.'
