Category: Sustainability
Le Millénaire near Paris has been awarded a BREEAM Very Good certificate. The shopping centre will open to the public on 27 April 2011.

Developed by Icade and Klépierre as joint-investors, Le Millénaire will house close to 140 shops and restaurants covering 56,000 m2 gross leasable area and is the first French shopping centre to get a double certification (BREEAM Very Good and HQE Commerce - High environmental quality for Retail).

The partners said this is a recognition that environmental aspects were fully integrated from the design stage of the centre. An identical approach was taken for the adjacent offices (17,000 m2) that have been certified HQE® Tertiary.

Located just a few metres from Porte d'Aubervilliers, the Le Millénaire office and retail development was designed by the architect and planner Antoine Grumbach as a neighbourhood, a section of a town and a place for living.
