Echo starts development of Galeria Olimpia in Poland

Polish property company Echo Investment has started construction of the Galeria Olimpia shopping centre in Belchatów, central Poland. The scheme, which is scheduled for opening in August 2012, will offer 30,500 m2 of retail space across 100 shops and 1,100 parking spaces.

The retail and entertainment centre is currently being marketed to potential tenants, with a pre-letting rate of 60%.

'We have concluded contracts with the Tesco hypermarket, a six-screen Multikino cinema with 1,233 seats as well as the Rossmann, CCC and Martes Sport chains,' said Marcin Materny, director of shopping centres at Echo Investment.

Also this week, Polish developer Euro Styl has announced the start of construction of its 7,200 m2 Opera office development project in Gdansk, Poland's second largest city. JLL has been appointed as exclusive leasing agent for the scheme, which is planned to be delivered to tenants in June-July 2012.
