Rome toys with idea of rival to Milan property fair
Date: 10 June 2011
Category: Provada
A delegation from Rome attended the Provada real estate fair in Amsterdam this week to examine the feasibility of establishing a similar event for the Italian capital.

Such an event would be direct rival to Expo Italia (EIRE) in Milan. Both Provada and EIRE ran from 7-9 June this year.

The delegation from Rome also sought to drum up support among Dutch developers and investors for projects in the Italian capital, chiefly the EUR 1 bn Tor Bella Monaca regeneration scheme. The plan features 24,000 apartments and a retail component.

The representatives from Rome included Macro di Cosimo, councillor in charge of city planning; Antonio Stampete, vice-president of Rome's tourist commission. The delegation was accompanied by Dutch lawyer Angela Mannaerts who has an office in Rome.

Di Cosimo: 'We also to see how the projects and companies present themselves at this fair and are thinking about the idea to set up our own fair in Rome.'
