IABR announces urban theme for 2012

The fifth International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) will highlight sustainability projects from major urban centres across the world, it has been announced.

The 'IABR: Making City' event will open in April 2012 and showcase over 35 projects from more than 25 cities around the world. Featured cities include Dutch hubs Rotterdam, the Hague and Rotterdam, as well as New York, Paris and Sao Paulo.

The accompanying research program will set to out to show how future urban development will have to involve increased co-operation among different disciplines to ensure environmental challenges are met and social agendas and economic ambitions are balanced.

The main Making City exhibition will be on show from 20 April to 12 August 2012 at the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI).
