Date: 15 November 2011
Category: Office
German developer Hochtief has sold an office development in the Mitte district of Berlin to two church organisations for EUR 65.4 mln.

The two church bodies - the social arm of the Protestant Church (Diakonisches Werk) and the Protestant Church Development Service (Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst) - will move into the property in October 2012 following a merger.

The property is currently being developed and will offer 23,000 m2 on seven storeys. It will provide office space for about 640 employees, as well as conference rooms, a chapel, and a corporate restaurant. A public café and retail outlets are planned for the ground floor.

The scheme, which will be known as Haus des Evangelischen Werks für Diakonie und Entwicklung, will target a 'Gold' rating under DGNB environmentally-sustainable standards.
