Global logistics property developer Gazeley has announced plans to construct two new major projects in the UK. In the southwest of England, the company will develop a 74,000-m2 built-to-suit (BTS) distribution centre at G. Park Swindon for the British DIY chain, B&Q. The scheme is expected to be delivered in June 2011. The £70 mln (EUR 81 mln) regional hub will service B&Q stores across the south of England.

Nigel Godfrey, UK senior vice president for Gazeley, said: 'This is the biggest development of its kind currently being built in the UK and to deliver the warehouse to B&Q in time is a challenge that we look forward to meeting.'

Gazeley has appointed UK construction group McLaren to commence work on the site that will aim to be completed by June 2011.

In north London Gazeley said it will develop another BTS centre for the UK retail giant Tesco. The 14,000-m2 scheme in Enfield will be delivered to Tesco in the first quarter. The project represents an investment volume of EUR 23 mln.
