Swedish listed property company Fabege is gearing up for construction of a 42,000 m2 office property above the largest shopping centre project in Scandinavia.
The Scandinavian Office Building will sit above the main entrance of Unibail-Rodamco's Mall of Scandinavia in the Arenastaden district of Stockholm.
The office building will involve an investment of more than SEK 1 bn (€117 mln) in addition to the €600 mln Mall of Scandinavia project. The first tenants are to move into the office space in 2015, which is also the delivery year for the shopping centre.
Fabege said construction of the office space will start this year. Unibail-Rodamco began building its 101,000 m2 mall - the largest retail venture in Scandinavia - earlier this year.
Scandinavian Office Building will be one of the tallest properties in the new Arenastaden area and will be as tall as the five Hötorgsskraporna buildings in Stockholm City.
The building will be nine stories tall and will provide up to 4,000 workplaces. Fabege is seeking BREEAM Excellent certification for the scheme.
'We want to create the best conditions for business success. We will achieve this by creating an urban pulse and building environments in which employees are satisfied and can perform well, where companies can network and where it is as easy to travel to Arlanda Airport as it is to take your bicycle home from work,' said Fabege CEO Christian Hermelin.
