Category: Retail
German retail specialist ECE Projektmanagement has announced that its BahnhofCity Vienna West shopping centre is opening its doors on Wednesday after a construction period of three-and-a-half years.

The complex, which includes 13,000 m2 of office facilities and a 441-room Motel One hotel adjacent to the city's train station, provides around 90 specialist shops, cafés, restaurants, and service outlets on an area of 17,000 m2. The project represented a total investment of around EUR 200 mln.

The shopping centre is opening fully let while the office space is nearly rented out with tenants due to move in by spring 2012. A major tenant with 6,300 m2 of space is Austrian electricity trader Verbund.

The development represents a partnership between ECE and the Austrian Federal Railway (ÖBB), with ECE being responsible for the marketing and management of the scheme. ECE has also renovated and integrated the train station hall in the complex as part of the project.
