Corio appoints former Ahold exec to head Dutch operations

Listed retail specialist Corio has appointed Jan Willem Weissink as CEO of the company's Dutch operations, bringing the number of people in the management team to four. Besides Weissink, the board will now consist of Dick Bogaards (CFO), Caroline Kievit (COO) and Paul Tankink (CDO).

Weissink joins from Ahold, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Ahold Europe Real Estate & Construction. In this position he was responsible for all Ahold's real estate and construction activities in Europe. Before joining Ahold in 1996, he held a number of international commercial functions within Dutch food group Nutricia.

Weissink, who is also chairman of the Dutch Council of Shopping Centres (NRW), will assume his new position on 1 July. Corio’s portfolio in the Netherlands consists of 37 operational shopping centres with a value at 31 March 2011 of EUR 1.9 bn. The Dutch portfolio currently for 28% of Corio’s total portfolio.
