Hochtief Projektentwicklung has concluded the biggest rental agreement in the Cologne-based maxCologne project since the development of the Rhine halls in 2006.

MDAX-listed specialty chemical group Lanxess has agreed to take 38,000 m2 of the 22-floor high-rise on a long-term lease. As a result, 80% of the maxCologne is now let with completion still almost two years away.

'Company resettlements are not unusual in Cologne; but the magnitude of this rental agreement exceeds anything the city has ever seen since the Generali lease in our Dominium project four years ago,' Rolf Müller, head of HTP Rhein- Ruhr, said.

The now leased high-rise building also includes the 'Rheinetagen' located directly on the Deutz Rhine embankment. The two buildings are already pre-certified for Gold status based on criteria stipulated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (German Sustainable Building Council).

The maxCologne was sold to HIH Hamburgische Immobilien Handlung for Warburg-Henderson’s special real estate fund 'RZVK-Immo-Fonds' prior to the start of construction.
