Alpha finishes Munich scheme on time despite archaeological find
Date: 3 November 2011
Category: Development
Property company Alpha Industrial has completed and handed over a 18,500 m2 logistics distribution centre in the Logistikpark München Ost on schedule to packaging wholesaler Ratioform. Construction took just five months even though archaeological finds relating to the Beaker Culture were found during the work. The objects were presented to the Bavarian State Office for preservation.

Alpha Industrial faced significant challenges. Ulrich Wörner, technical director at Alpha Industrial: 'When doing the excavation work on the 44,000 m2 property we found not only the remains of Celtic houses from around 150 BC, such as a blue glass armband, we also uncovered a burial place that dates back more than 4,000 years to the Bell Beaker Culture from around 2100 BC.' Alpha Industrial presented the four well-preserved graves and their burial objects to the Bavarian State Office for preservation and scientific processing as historical treasures.

Ratioform aims to begin work in the new centre in March 2012. The next step for Alpha Industrial is to complete a second warehouse of 13,500 m2. When the park is completed, Alpha Industrial’s investment in the property and the building of logistics facilities will be around EUR 26.5 mln.

Alpha Industrial specialises in developing, leasing and managing logistics and industrial property assets for trading companies, manufacturers and logistics and transport companies.
