Aik buys Leed-certified scheme in Leipzig
Date: 26 May 2011
Category: Office
German asset manager APO Immobilien-Kapitalanlagegesellschaft (AIK) has acquired the Katharinum mixed-use scheme a week after it opened in the German city of Leipzig.

The scheme, which was awarded the Leed Gold certification, was bought from Kondor Wessels for around EUR 20 mln. The purchase is earmarked for the apoReal International spezialfonds.

The property offers a total of 7,000 m2 of office, housing and retail space let to several tenants including Hirmer Große Größen, the city's Tourist Information office and Laib & Leben. The occupancy rate currently amounts to 85%.

BNP Paribas Real Estate and Joerg Schnorbus Transaktionsmanagement were involved in the development, marketing and sale of the project.

The deal represents the second sale by developer Kondor Wessels after the disposal earlier this year of a newly built housing project in Berlin to Bayer Pensionskasse.
